Owner: Erin Watley, PhD. 10+ years of experience.

I specialize in the use of popular culture and media as a gateway for learning about the prominence and nuance of cultural conflict. My work emphasizes practicing simple skills that can deconstruct cultural biases within our immediate reach. This work can look like the facilitation of intercultural dialogues, conducting sensitivity readings, curating media screenings with discussions, and so much more!

In whatever form my services take, I provide DEIJ work that is:

  • Practical. Encouraging the practice of actions that further DEIJ objectives wherever you are at right now.

  • Radical. Speaking directly to the oppressive cultural systems at the root of DEIJ related problems (racism, homophobia, classism, sexism etc.)

  • Engaging. Focused on the community connection and care that is essential to any type of DEIJ work.

What makes this version of DEIJ different?

More traditional DEIJ consulting often comes in the form of theory heavy presentations, assessments, standardized trainings & best practices. These can be important tools, but their emphasis often neglects the need to practice DEIJ skills that extend past the workplace.

DEIJ must also be the doing, becoming, engaging, sharing, reflecting, and challenging that is available to everyone whomever you are, and whatever you know.  It is essential to embody DEIJ habits in daily tasks, while watching your favorite show, and within personal relationships.

Through Intersect Consulting, I am here to help you plan, facilitate, and evaluate everyday cultural practices and/or media content with an accessible DEIJ focus.
